Kayla’s cell phone plan has a fixed fee of $45 per month plus $0.10 per text message. Kayla’s mom said she would take away the phone if she spent more than $60 on her phone service this month. Try to come up with an expression that will represent Kayla's cell phone plan. Then explain how you could figure out how many texts she could send each month without going over $60.
So far I am loving being here at DTM. I love antiques so I love this old building. My house is full of antiques. My daughter wishes we had more modern things in our house, but I like the older things because they are unique. The picture to the left is my children (Payton 8 & Lexie 12). I love learning new things and I love teaching others new things too. I love reading, mostly expository text. Tell us about yourself. What do you like to do? What is your favorite subject? It is ok if you don't say math, science, or social studies:) We are going to be going on many great field trips. Let's talk about your favorites. Here is an example of the kind of blog entry I would like to read:
Going to the Urban Farm was interesting. It was neat to see how many different plants they grew right in the middle of a city neighborhood. It made me want to visit the Farmer's Market and buy some fresh food. I also did not realize how much money you could make by planting and raising your own vegetables. Have you had an "Ahh Hah moment" in math? That means that something that used to be confusing suddenly makes sense. For example, Mrs. Speaks told me a few years ago during a teacher training day that whenever she has to multiply by 25 she thinks in terms of quarters. That made sense to me and I have been doing it that way ever since. What have you learned about math that makes sense to you?
It was kind of fun trying to identify different kinds of soil and watching the piece of chalk chemically erode. Tell me what you have learned about soil, weathering, and erosion so far. Have you seen any examples of weathering and erosion around the school or your house? Tell us about them.
Hi, my name is Mrs. Elder. I like to spend time with my family and friends on the weekends. We like to go on bike rides, eat pizza, and go to parks. In the winter time we sometimes go to Outdoor Adventures to go swimming. It is hard for me to choose a favorite subject. I absolutely LOVE to read. I like fiction and nonfiction. I also love math and science because I love finding out why things work and using that information to solve problems. I am also fascinated by our country's history so I like learning about social studies as well.
